Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia | Iota Omicron | Bowling Green State University

Chapter History

The Bowling Green State University chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was founded in 1960 as the Iota Omicron chapter. We exist as part of Province 2 of Phi Mu Alpha, which is made up primarily of Michigan collegiate chapters, the University of Toledo, and our chapter.

Our chapter became actively involved with Greek Life at BGSU when we joined the Independent Greek Council in 2008 and were later grandfathered and became part of the Multicultural Greek Council. In the Fall of 2015 we became part of the Interfraternity Council (IFC) at Bowling Green State University.

In our time on Bowling Green’s campus, we have sponsored several events and activities. Chief among these are our Valentine’s Day Serenades, the Steve VunCannon Memorial Scholarship and its fundraising banquet, Funk-a-Thon, several concerts called American Music Recitals, Mills Music Missions, and the annual Greek Idol. We also have participated in a variety of activities sponsored by other organizations and fraternities and sororities and have been active participants in Greek Weekend since we became part of Greek Life.
